Lekhfa Spring Tour sets off on a high note at Philharmonie de Paris and REWIRE Festival
“Each of these three musicians has an impressive history, but their debut album together is an edgy triumph” ***** The Guardian
“Every track is just a dream come true” Max Reinhardt, BBC Radio 3’s best 12 albums of 2017
Over the past weekend, the first leg of Maryam Saleh, Maurice Louca and Tamer Abu Ghazaleh’s Lekhfa Spring 2018 tour kicked off at Philharmonie de Paris, as part of the major Al Musiqa exhibition celebrating Arabic music past and present. Lekhfa was then ushered to one of Europe’s best festivals for adventurous music, REWIRE Festival in The Hague. The tour continues later this month with four UK shows.
Maryam Saleh, Maurice Louca and Tamer Abu Ghazaleh, names that have turned heads in alternative Arabic music with solo albums and conspicuous collaborations, with Lekhfa they give birth to an off kilter sound where layers of grit and beauty intertwine in and around the dystopian poems of their contemporary Mido Zoheir. Following album release concerts in Cairo, Dubai, Amman, London, Stockholm & Paris in Fall 2017, the live rendering of their game-changing album continues its worldwide touring journey with Maryam Saleh on vocals & duff; Tamer Abu Ghazaleh on vocals, oud & buzuq; Maurice Louca on keys, guitar & slide guitar; Khaled Yassine on drums, Mahmoud Waly on bass (Elie Afif on bass in UK shows) and Ghassan Bouz on percussions.
Lekhfa was released via Arab independent label Mostakell worldwide in September 2017 on Vinyl, CD, streaming and digital download: http://smarturl.it/Lekhfa
