Following recent appearances at Norbergfestival and Clandestino Festival, Egyptian composer and music producer Nadah El Shazly lands in Stockholm for her Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) composer residency.

Fylkingen, EMS and Simsara are proud to present El Shazly’s first show in Stockholm in a triple bill featuring a vanguard of alternative music in Egypt, Maurice Louca and veteran purveyor of Swedish live acid, Daniel Araya.

Maurice Louca

Egyptian music is currently undergoing an energetic renaissance. Maurice Louca’s second solo album taps into this excitement. By opening up to everything around him, he has crafted remarkable music – dense, driven and splashed with colour.” The Wire

Inspired by many influences, from psychedelic to Egyptian shaabi, Louca’s second album Benhayyi Al-Baghbaghan (Salute the Parrot), released via Nawa Recordings in November 2014, shattered the confines of musical and cultural labelling and was dubbed by many as a game-changer for the region’s independent music scene. A hard-hitting live rendering of this album will be performed by Louca on live keys and electronics, with Bashar Farran on bass and Tommaso Cappellato on drums. http://www.mauricelouca.com
Daniel Araya

A veteran of live acid in Sweden, for the past twenty years, Araya has been playing live acid techno. His live sets are based around a handful TB-303 synthesizers and other old synths, relying on the interaction between their internal sequencers and their various quirks to create improvised dance music. soundcloud.com/danielaraya
